I was at the duergar encampment, i took the tools and was ready to go to the black monastery. Suddenly without any provocation i was attaked by duergars. I am fully patched, and i have the "ease of use" and "undead targos" mods installed.

4 in my party are good, 1 is neutral and 1 is evil. Leader is "good" with 21 charisma.

Why did this happen?

That is good, you get the Hell Bolter for free, otherwise a HoF item!

Only reason I can think of for the duergar attack is that you somehow inadvertantly picked up something they didn't want you to have.

However, by getting rid of them now, you have saved yourself some grief later on.

As for the spirit, a high-enough cleric can turn it and cause it to speak, which gives you a couple of options for dealing with it.

Yep, that will do it, all right. They don't want you messing with their stuff. But you're in good shape and it's nothing to worry about.

Actually there are two versions of the Hell Bolter - one is for the normal difficulty and the upgraded improved version is a HOF item. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Yes, the Doom bolter, the one you either buy, intimidate, earn or steal, and when you kill the guy he gets the Hell version.

You can take everything from the storage, but when you open the locked chest in the NW corner of the room, they will attack. They will also attack if you open a chest in the sleeping room.

I recall a warning not to go to the barracks or mess with the slaves.. U might of done one of them.. I remeber entering the room with the bolter engeneer w/o doing anythig for a few seconds turning into a battle, thus entering and talking with him asap made it a silent encounter..
Not sure though whats better, kill'em then or after th e8 chamber quest..

It's good that you killed them already, otherwise they gang up on you later. I had to summon a buncha monsters to even the playing field.
