Had a weird idea for a party, an underdark monk/pally party. Could be interesting but the stat spread and UCL problems may be a big problem, what do you think:
Drow Monk/sorc: 10/18/10/5/17/20 Drow Fighter(4)/Pally: 18/12/15/5/10/20 Deep Gnome Monk/Cleric: 16/20/14/3/20/1 Deep Gnome Monk/Rogue: 11/20/`0/16/16/1 Will this be playable and any suggestions on stat allocation? [ 02-01-2005, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: Aragorn1 ] |
Definately playable, though I have (naturally ) some suggestions:
Having a monk sorcerer isn't really better than a straight sorcerer, and you will run into penalties. Go with a straight sorcerer and drop some WIS for CON and INT. Since Drow are neither fighters nor paladins, make him a fighter/paladin 50/50 to avoid xp penalties. Drop CHA to 18 and take 1 more in WIS and CON for more hp and lvl 1 spells. I like! I would take 4 off of STR and put it into CON for an uber-decoy, but that is just preference. Bear with the xp penalty. Er, typo on this one. If he's a monk/theif (?), then I honestly don't know what kind of stats to use. He will need 5/6s of the stats, so... I would ditch the monk levels. Without them, you can drop WIS a bit and make an effective backstabber/tactician. Good luck! |
Thanks, don't know where the monks came from, i was just looking at the monk orders and seeing how their multiclasses would work would, some, after thought, seemingly don't.
So; 1.A pure sorc. 2.With the pally, cha, ithougth, should be maxed due to the abilities it affects, is wis necessary though, what would be a level that didn't give me awfull will saves. 3.Will consider it. 4. No typo, there are no theives in IWD2, rogues, who are, "stealthy thevies...[or] silver tongued tricksters. Still others are scouts, infiltraitors, spies, diplomats or thugs," to quote the manual. They have replace 2E theives. How about a fighter theif, evenly leveled, to give extra punch, as thief skills aren't all that needed in IWD2 compared to BG1/2. |
Sounds like a good plan, though I would prefer a Drow for that build. When I said typo, I was refering to your CON being "'0", whatever that means.
For the paladin, by changing your CHA to 18 and getting 16 CON and 11 WIS, you are exchanging 1 to all saving throws for 1 hp per level and level one priest spells. After a certain quest, this guy's WIS will be increased to 12, giving him level 2 priest spells (draw upon holy might ). It seems like a great exchange to me, since being a Drow the pally already has great magic resistance. [ 02-02-2005, 05:18 AM: Message edited by: Marty4 ] |
Minor item spolier
Dont forget that there are 2 *cough* *cough* potions *cough* that increase your wis later in the game. So if you take all of them plus the quest you'll have 15 wis, which is more than enough. |
Though one of those is complete rubbish. The downside of it far outways the upside.
|
I usually take the second.
Should have been 10 CON. Sorry, its just you had theif with a ? next to it i thought you were refering to that. Yes, i suppose the resisitances are fine without the need for the CHA bonus. |
