Stuck in Serpent Temple treasure room. Pushed button to bring lift down, went up to treasure room, pilfered. Lift stuck on my floor, however, no apparent device to send down.

Any clue, much appreciated.

See the Serpent Temple Spoilers Thread under the 2nd archive. The author was JaredC80SF. I'm sure you'll find out something in there. But if you need help now, (I haven't gotten that far) but from what I have heard the elevator isn't supposed to go back down or up which ever one it is.

It's a toss up between that one and the D'Soto tower one as to which is the buggiest lift in the game. SAVE before you go into either. Reload if you are stuck in there, I have not seen a single reply where anyone has miraculously escaped - sorry the news is not any better.
