how do i get out of the mines , I cant find a second writ . can anyone help

Check your inventory. When you go into the mines the guard gives you the writ back but it is no longer identified. Will still look like that odd scroll - so you probably have it. If you cannot identify items - no problem. The guard can!

P.S. - the guard can give it back to a different character than the one that gave it to him - so check ALL your character's inventory!

As far as I've experienced the writ is always returned to the first character. So make sure he has room in his inventory though, because otherwise the scroll falls to the ground, just before the game starts loading the other side. So bye bye scroll.

Now that I think about it, where are all the permits of the stouts working in the mines? I've killed them all (hey, how should I know Freyedies got angry when I tried to steal the key to the treasury!) and none have a writ. This stinks of discrimination! (Otherwise they're just workaholics who've never left the mine since that decree started.)

Generally it is my rogue and second place character that carries such things as writs/keys/etc. In the stout mines, I have had the writ returned to either the 1st or 2nd place character. Don't believe I ever saw it returned to any beyond second place.

I have to agree with Wyv here...
Check the invenory of your first couple of characters... chances are, one of them will have a ?scroll?. You don't even havee to identify it. It's your writ.
