I'm polling here :D ...

I'll start with myself. :D
Most underrated race: Gnomes
Most underrated class: F/M/C

i think your proably right about gnomes
f/m/c is better if your not playing w/ a full party because your xp is being split 3 ways meaning you level very slowly

ranger/cleric I think

Most underrated race: Gnomes - People are always overlooking the smaller races potential, but I love them.
Most underrated class: Bards - Oh wait they are underrated for a reson.
I could say F/M/C since I would never think about using one. Are they any good?

yep! Gnomes are underestimated. And bards as well.

Yeah, I'll echo Gnomes as the most underestimated race. Sure, some people might have legitimate gripes about their being forced to be Illusionists, and not being able to Dual, but most of the Gnomes' negative PR is about their size and their bearded ladies. But come to grips with this: A pure Gnomish Fighter will beat a pure Human Fighter any day: Better Saving Throws.

For most underrated class, I'd have to say Cleric/Thief. It's actually a very valid combo, it's just that the circumstances have conspired against it. Due to the "shortage" of bottom-row buttons, Cleric/Thieves can only have 1 Quick Weapon, and their Thieving skills are hidden behind their Special Abilities button. (Of course, I'll bet you use those "Talk" and "Guard" buttons all the time, don't you?) And they got screwed for weapons as well; the only 1-handed weapon they can Backstab with is the Club, and there are NO enchanted Clubs in BG1; there's one in ToSC, but you have to beat the most annoying quest in the game in order to get it. So the Cleric/Thief is actually a decent class, it just wasn't taken into consideration that much when designing the game.

Personally, I think Druids, Bards, and F/C/Ms all have bad reputations for a reason. (Bards and Druids get better in BG2, though.)

whats wrong with druids? nice monster summoning and heals enough to make me happy plus they get to wear reasonable armour though i think thats a bug and can wield good weapons too.

With the exception of mages...specifically illusionists....I have never heard of anyone playing a gnome here on the boards.

As far as class goes...I know that it is a straight up well known class...but you never really hear people bragging about the "Kickin Cleric" that they are winning with. The near total lack of blunt weapons that are worth a rats hind parts may be a reason for this but at the same time recent gallup polls show that Cleric use is at an all time low.

i use branwen and she owns , big hps, hits hard hits fast and has low ac plus casts all sorts of nifty spells, has big ole heals and monster summonings too, nowt wrong with this girl (apart from the annoying voice)
