ok i tried everything i could think of from sneaking in with my thief and trying to steal it to applying for the servent job to walking in with everybody fully armed wipping out everyone in the house and searching their corpses (not exactly in line with the role im plaing but i figured if i saved before hand then found who had it or wear it was i could sneak in and get it but i turned up zilch even though on of the sister offered to give me her part but i didn't get anything so is it in some kinda hidden compartment i couldn;t find or something ????

i did this years and years ago, didnt bother for my current game, but when i did i seem to remember one was in a hidden compartment somewhere the other one on someone and one locked up buti could be wrong, might be slightly random too, either way ransack the house and u should find it, but i think slaughtering them fails you the quest? or gets you in trouble with someoen else

I'll give you a hint: the main skyship piece you're trying to find isn't being carried by the sisters. Try searching the house. There IS a way to complete this quest without killing anyone.

Although (at least in my experience) there is no way to do it without some people in the house turning hostile to you--thanks to the way that the NPCs in the game can start conversations with invisible characters. (grumble)

I like to use Sanctury for tasks like this. I think it's a much under-rated spell, especially if used by a Gnome Cleric/Thief.

I agree. That's the big problem with Stealth & Invisibility: Pick somebody's pocket, open a container, or picking something up off the ground will instantly turn you visible. DOH! And while there are plenty of ways that a Thief can get Invisibility, the only way a Thief can get Sanctuary is to be a Cleric/Thief.

improved invisibility normally does the job and the ring of invisiblity is v.useful but some npcs can see or detect through it i find theres 3 reactions from npcs who would initiate dialogue:

1) they cant see you so say nothing even if your standing next to them
2) they see you start talking but when they go to attack cannot because they cant see you (i think this one is a little bit bugged should be no conversation at all)
3) they see you , talk and then attack, thats fair enough because the ones that do this are normally fairly powerful so either have heightened senses or means of seeing through.

2nd option is almost certainly a bug cos its weird to have someone talk to you like they see you then they just stand there whilst you laugh monster summon and attack with monsters all the while remaining completely safe from harm (cept from those darned area effect spells)

Before we leave this subject I think we should take a test, to see if those of you at the back were paying attention.

Exam question set by the Adventures Guild – intermediate level.

Which class of character, using which skills, can accomplish the following tasks, with 100% chance of success at the first attempt, and at the minimum possible XP level :-

1) Steal from an locked chest in an occupied room, without being seen?

2) Walk passed the guards into an unoccupied room to steal from a locked and trapped chest, without taking damage or being seen?

3) Steal from a locked and trapped chest in an occupied room without taking damage or being seen?

Students should show working and justify their answer where necessary, additional marks will be awarded for imaginative schemes. If you wish to use potions, scrolls or magic devices you may do so, but these are not available until later in the game so you could lose marks for having too much XP. Assume that there are several people in the room and that the trap causes multiple hits, with no saving throw. Students using Gatekeeper will be disqualified.
