Am I right in guessing there is some kind of bug on the Vamp ring?
Also, I am about to enter the Shrine of Anephas. are ther any decent bugs in there?

The bug on the Vampire Ring is fixed if you load the patch. I had no troubles anywhere with the patch installed, but it just may be I have the right hardware. If I remember correctly, I had few troubles with the infamous Ultima 9 with the same hardware configuration.
