I've read that, if a party member gets turned to stone, they are permanently destroyed. Is this correct? That is, you cannot restore them with a Stone To Flesh scroll, like you did on Branwen?
|
dont think you can, it counts as death, you need to protect them before they get hit, if you want tips to beat basilisks scroll down....
animal summoning - animals you summon cant be petrified and basilisks hit like complete pussies in close combat so a group of animals can actually kill basilisks pretty easy even the greater ones, so leave em to it and no risk to you at all. tank up just one character make sure hes got protection from petrification of some sort and then hack em up cos again in combat basilisks hit for 1 point of damage at best normally, no point involving the rest of your party as their chances of dying are high. |
Not true, if a partymember is turned into a stone statue, by a basilisk for example, a stone to flesh scroll restores him/her. The character will be removed from your party, and under most circumstances he/she will be neutral, can be spoken to and can rejoin the group. After being restored, the character will aslo have but a single hitpoint, the rest has to be regained through resting at inns and/or magical healing.
If your main character is turned to stone, you'll lose the game. Appearantly there's no chance the other partymembers will survive, think to get a stone to flesh scroll, return and actually cast the spell on your protagonist... When someone is turned to stone, you can kill the character if you attack again, hitting rather easily and shattering the stone. This death is permanent, just the turning to stone is not. Of course, it's always better to avoid getting turned to stone in the first place ;) |
true in some cases because i been unable to restore certain party members (elf not being resurrected thing again maybe?) then again i just reload from a save if anyone gets stoned, doesnt happen cos of my tactics anymore i think it was xan when he got frozen i couldnt do anything bout him

Thats odd
I'm not entirely sure, but I thought it wasn't until BG2 that they stopped the raise dead spell from working on elves, so that shouldn't be it. I've had quite a lot of experience with having partymembers turned to stone until I finally started using summoning spells (I didn't start using them until after I finished BG2), but I've never had problems with turning anyone back to flesh. The bug word comes to mind, but... Sig Segorn, do you recall where you read it? |
Thanks for the input, guys. Good to know it's not a death sentence for party members, other than my main character, of course. I guess petrification is my most worrisome thing. Haven't had any run-ins with this yet (just restoring Branwen)---I was just thinking ahead. Here's a link to the web page I read that on:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/bal...monster-1.html If it's not a mistake, it's at least unclear, but this is one of the two sites I'm using in my playthrough---more than the strategy guide. It's a very well-done, very helpful site, and I commend GameSpot for it. |
i definately cant resurrect elves in bg1 at all if they die i dont get a choice of resurrecting them at all only humans or others
|
I've never used the cleric spell raise dead .mostly cause by the time i get there i don't die as much and prefer to have other spells memorized but i have been able to raise half elves such as Jaharia at the temples and the only BG i played so fart is BG1 original and i have had not problem using stone to flesh scrolls on party members that got turned (that why whenever i go to an area that i know has creatures that do that i have every meber in my main character caryy about 10 of themcause as was said earlier i gets turned i gotta start over from last save any way

slight spoiler/hint
One of the merchant in Nashkel Carnival has a scroll of 'Protection from petrification' which works for 12 hours. Very handy on one particulary map ;) |
I have to go with legolas on this one...My strategy is to buy 5 scrolls of Stone to flesh at the Beregost temple...then whenever I am in deanger of petrification I pass them out one to each person in the party minus myself...that way when someone gets stoned...lol...I can fix them.
