I have tried all and part of my party to get through the underwter passage in the serpent temple. I keep getting stuck at the ground-water interface, fight a few monkeys or amoeba-like creature and drown (or swim back to the temple rooms). I even sent my smallest member alone with very little equipment and the same result ocurs. Any other suggestions?

Sometimes a party just can't get through there (I've had two parties that couldn't). Fortunately, the only item inside the tunnel is "non-critical" to finishing the Temple.

It's the snake figurine and is used to get the Book of the Servant in the Library for the serpent spirit ritual. You only need to know what the book says, not have it in hand. The responses to the spirit (must type them in) are:

When the Serpent charms, "The servant bows"
While the Serpent schemes, "The servant dreams"
As the Serpent sleeps, "The servant waits"
When the Serpent strikes, "The Servant prays"
