Hi all! I accidently discovered another way to fight those nasty mantraps.
I just happened to meet three mountain spiders on my way to Shurugeon Castle. I decided to experiment with my newly acquired "summon undead" spell. I made several Spectres and zombies appear and did not cast any other spells, just letting my warriors bash and watch the undead monsters beat the spiders.

Just then the mantraps appeared. But instead of the instant-whole-party-dead-o-zap they used their spells against the undead! But those were not much affected. I retreated as far as possible and took the mantraps out with distanced fire-spells easily while they concentrated solely on the undead.

Nice way to get exp!

I think the key is to have several undead there, because I don't know if and how they are affected when the mantraps hit them.

Now we are in the castle...
