The wooden blades were not much of a problem for me. Most of the time I could jump on top of them and jump down the other side. Other times I found that the closer I was to the wall the easier it was to climb the blade.
Once I found that there were several pockets of air in the underwater areas and that you did not have to drown waiting for a gate to open, the underwater part became much easier. If the gate closed in front of me most of the time I could swim up and grab some air before swimming down just in time for the gate to open.
The one time I got truly "stuck" (pardon the pun) was at those paddles with spikes that move back and forth. I missed the timing and one of those paddles pinned me down would not move back. The other one swung back and hit me and wouldn't move and I was in between two of them and couldn't push them out of the way. It killed three of my characters (all with over 300 hp) before I finally quit and went back to an earlier save.
