Thanks. Is the Harper Trilogy part of the Pern series or can it be read totally on its own?

I agree with Satts... The Pern series is fantastic. I believe the "Harper Hall of Pern" Trilogy (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums), were the first three Anne McCaffrey wrote. The next Trilogy you should read would be the "Dragonriders of Pern" (Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon). There are many others that come after, or before in the time line, but once you read these six books you will have enough background to read any of the others! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif Hope that helps!

I personally loved Barbara Hambly's "Dragonsbane"...great book!

You may also want to check out the Books forum here at Ironworks...they may have more ideas as well.

Oops Ruthafud, I got the sequence backwards...sorry! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/FRblush.gif Anne McCaffrey actually wrote the Dragonriders of Pern Trilogy first, but if I were you, I would read the Harper Hall of Pern Trilogy first. Hope I haven't confused you too much! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/frown.gif
