I keep mules in the inns. I took one of my mules from an inn (Ishad N'ha) and gave it my enchanted katana when I was completing the monk promotion quest. Then I returned my mule into the inn. Later on I returned for my items. Heh?? The katana was gone.
This is the first time I lost an item even if I did not trade items inside the inn. Let us note, that the katana was user-enchanted. Perhaps it's the reason, perhaps it is not. I don't know. Let us summarize: taking a mule out of an inn does not seem to suffice. Perhaps we are doomed to take mules out of the town. Perhaps it does not suffice either. |
Unless you are planning on resetting your adventures it is often much safer to leave items in stores (yes, you have to buy them back) than on mules in the inn. Think Saz noted that if an item is equipped on a "mule" it is less likely to disappear.
Did you actually save the game with the mule outside the town? Do you have a copy of a saved game where the mule still has the item in question ? I can probably put the item back for you. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif Wyv |
Also, on the Monk quest: you can carry as much as you like. You just can't equip it.
I have found Mules to be completely untrustworthy in the game. As I said, better to sell it at the store and buy it back when you need it. -Sazerac |
Are you playing with the patch? I am playing with the patch and never had ANY problems with my mules. On my last adventure, my mules kept valuable items for me (Mavin Sword, Shroud of Elsara, Death Staff, Dragon Armor, anks, $$$) and they never lost anything.
I did all my transaction in the inns and I never took my mules out to save the games. I personnally thaught the mules to be VERY reliabe. Either I'm lucky or something is wrong. |
The mules are reliable with the patch, as the patch fixes the "Inn" bug, which is the ultimate culprit in this matter.
Not everyone wants to play with the patch, though, so if you don't have the patch...beware the Inn! -Sazerac |
I don't think buying back your items always works. I sold some beauty stuff and wanted to buy it back later but it wasn't listed. I think maybe the stores have a max number of items they can sell and once you're over that any new sold items won't be availabel for purchasing any more???

Beauty items? What beauty items?? Whoa, this is new to me!!!
Actually, if they are "special items", they may be in the Guild purchase screen rather than the regular store screen...enter the guild and check there. Also: if you sold them "stacked" (like arrows or skulls), only one will save in the store inventory. Best to divvy out the items and sell them individually. They'll stack in the store inventory and you can buy them back then. -Sazerac |
Saz, hehehe
"beauty stuff" just means really great items! You know that! (not something like Revlon Pixie Hair Gel) LOL!!! Wyv |
Another thing to watch out for is if your blessing on an item is very high, the shop keeper's mean what they say. They didn't offer to sell them back to me. I blessed some things completly out of the game.

LOL Wyvern, I didn't know! I thought it was some new item I'd missed! Remember you're talking to the dude here who went through the game 4 times before he found a Wizard's Blade! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif
