I have gotten the staff from the lich and am trying to exit the area, but I cannot get through the one-way gate. Am I missing something? How do you leave? The walkthrough says that there is nothing else to do...

Go to the bridge to the east(?) of the Lich and jump in the water. Take the left-hand passage out. There are two exits: One goes through Adrianna and the vamps, and the other one goes through the werewolves and Gosh'in. Both are quests. I suggest that if you haven't talked to Adrianna yet, go on and do so. She has a quest for you that you'll need the Lich's staff to get. Also: Gosh'in has an item that the Warrior's Guild guy (Strumbold) needs you to retrieve). Either way will work.

That gate never opens from the other side. Go down the other corridor and jump off the bridge into the water, head through either the vampire cluster or through Goshin's lair to get to the basement area of the castle. Ascend from there.
