i click on the standard lever to load the dungon, and i should see a mermaid and follow her through a door? there is no mermaid and the door is closed and locked. i have spent 10 mins trying to find a lever of some sort with no success.

You're at the EXIT of Collasium, not the Entrance. To find the true entrance, go back up, find the huge underwater temple...when facing the front, swim to the near right corner of it and look...there should be an opening below. Swim through it and you'll find another lever down there.

How many players have gotten stuck on this exact problem??

Couldn't they have included a "Back Door" sign?? LOL!! Maybe if Mort gets together a hexedit team this could be one of the modifications!
