Is this brew neccessary, and who is it that you have to purchase it from? I received one killing one of those boogres. Do i need a brew for everyone?

You can use the boogre brew on the idol of bongu, via running the gauntlet and getting blessed with Tiger Strike, Berserker Trait or a plus to your fortitude for certain classes. I think you can use one twice, but I'll have to check on that. You can buy them from one of the guys in the Boogre Tavern for 5 gold apiece...divvyiong your gold so you don't give away too much if he'll even accept more than 5. Will bump up some threads on the subject.

You can bribe Pastolio at the Entrance of the Stout Mines with Boogre Brew if you don't have a Miner's Writ, also.
And I think it cures poison.

I tried to do some searches to find out exactly which traits were given but got booted lol.
