Only pureclassed Fighters can go beyond Specialisation in their Weapon-Type Proficiencies.

Rangers can only put two stars in any one weapon - this is the trade off for your stealth ability, charm animal ability, and later on a handful of priest spells.

Though in SoA, the Archer class can have Grandmastery in ranged weapons(though not in throwing daggers, throwing axes, not sure about darts or slings). in other words, bows 'n' crossbows.

Yeah that's one problem of Paladins and Rangers, they're specialised fighters that can't become masters. Taran, word of advice, read the manual it has a few things about things like that so you can find out withtout asking us.

Do you really think we find answering blatantly obvious questions from an admitted sloth a fun and interesting past time? You seem to.

Take some time to flip through the BG manual. You may find the game mechanics are just as interesting, if not moreso, as the game itself. If something within confuses you, it's by far more interesting to address those issues than it is spitting out data any ol' person (including yourself) could look up.

You can ask as many questions as you want as many times as you want. I just started my 25th game of Baldur's Gate and Tales of the Sword Coast and when I have finished I will go on to BGII SOA and beyond. so just keep asking your questions and anyone that doesn't like it can find a new forum !! We here at IW don't like smart mouth people and it doesn't take much to get them Banned' So Taran you just keep asking and the members that have made Ironworks what it is will answer also if you look toward the top of this page you will see some small yellow words each one underlined if you click on (faq) you may find your answers without waiting for a responce. Baldur's Gate is one of the oldest fourms here at IW and almost every question about it has been answered two or three times but if you can't find an answer then ask away. now that I'm playing the Gate from the Begining I will be spending more time here and will help when I can. Good Gamming! oh yeah I just can't see putting wheels on my feet because of gravity, I'll just stick to Cliff scaling and Sky Diving its safer.

Even if a question has been asked so many times that it gives you nightmares just thinking about it, every member has a right to ask a question so long as it is not spam and/or irrelevant.

As a reader, you have the right to not answer that question, but do not, under any circumstances, berate a person for asking a 'common' question, or a question that can be easily answered.

Nobody is twisting your arm to answer the question. You can choose to ignore it and move on; and now, let us ALL calm down and get on with the show. ;)
