If you turn a rouge to assassin, what skills does it lose? Can they still pick locks etc?

None. Assassin is the highest thief-like class. All your thieving abilities (lockpicking, stealing, etc.) are preserved plus you get excellent fighting abilities. Plus Moon and Fiend Magic

the assassin is the one of 3 "super charrictors" he is the easyest one to get and he is much bettar the any rough or ninja.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be much reason to keep characters as Rogues or Ninjas, unless you have several of them (and can only use the assassin's dagger once)...

Actually, for a solo character, I find the Assassin so super overpowered that I usually will play as a Rogue all the way until the end of the game -- or switch to Ninja if I get bored & want some Moon magic to speed things up.

Do you use those assasin only armor? They don't seem to give any kind of defense rating.

Unless you have the skill that gives you +4 armor with robes, I'd say assassins definitely should be using normal armor, not the special robes. Same for all characters, actually. Just one of the many examples of how this game was unfinished... it shouldn't be that you can't really use classes' special armors because their armor classes are so far below other armors that make your characters look a lot more generic. I really like the unique looks, but can't use those (like the wizard's robes too) because of how low the armor is... oh well. Not a major issue. Just a bit irritating.

Yeah, they are really powerful... but as one of the third-tier classes, they're supposed to be.

But the spirit shield treáit is only working in the patched version of the game. :(
