<font color="gold">I've always thought of it as a "collection" of all the Bhaalspawns. When Sarevok is killed, his statue explodes, because he excists no more.</font>

OR

That every statue represents a living person. When someone dies the statues shatter. Purpose of the statues remains a mystery. But it looked like all the statues were in the Abyss. I doubt that Bhaal had THAT many children.

He did. You will a fair few of them in Bg2 and ToB, and here tales of others.

<font size=4>CAN WE HAVE A BIG, FAT, <FONT COLOR=RED>SPOILER</FONT> TAG PLACED ON THIS THREAD, PLEASE?!?</FONT>

Bernardo, a *SPOILER* tag is a warning to relative newcomers to the game, letting them know that there is a danger of learning something about the game that they would <u>really</u> rather find out for themselves. As it stands now, there is nothing that would let an absolute newbie know that this thread is about the end movie of the entire flippin' game.

----> Me is calm now.

By my interpretation, the statues are indeed all of Bhaal's children. (Alaundo's prophecy about "a score of mortal progeny" must mean that only 20 of those children would grow up to cause enough of a stir to be of importance to someone like Alaundo.) When one of them dies and Bhaal's essence flows down to rejoin its maker, their statue shatters--that person is no longer truly a child of Bhaal. Even if they get resurrected, their taint is gone, and they cannot hope to attain the godhood that Sarevok worked to achieve.

And yes, there actually *are* (or were, in Sarevok's case at least) that many kids. Bhaal must have been one horny demon--and he was "working" at it for many, many years before his death.

Oh... sorry for not putting the "spoiler" allert... anyway... that is a nice theory...

Flaming Fist Enforcer 06-26-2003 02:29 PM

<font color=33CC33>That's not a theory, actually. Those statues really are all Bhaalspawns.</font>

Bernardo, I say again--this thread NEEDS a spoiler tag. Do you see that "Edit/Delete" button right above the first post in the thread? This is a really good time to use it. I suggest you insert the words <font color=white>[FINAL BATTLE SPOILERS]</font> into the title of the thread, and edit the text of the top post to include <font color=white>[BIG-ASS ENDGAME SPOILERS]</font> followed by a bunch of blank lines.
