im just wondering what u guys do with the idol? do u leave it there or take it out and kill the doom gaurd? Also after uv killed the guard what can u do with the thing? is there any detrimental affects?

Shaggy 08-03-2003 06:13 PM

i've only done the quest once but wen i did it i took it out and killed the doom guard. as far as wat u can do with it i think selling its the only thing you can do(at least thats wat i did) but i may be wrong

There's much more to the idol than 50gp. Though alone it isn't really worth keeping, you'd need something else and someone else to make any use of it. But that's all I'm saying. ;)

Besides the fact that if you had that something else and something else, you'd end up with something worthless :D

TheVulcanAndroid 08-03-2003 10:43 PM

Shhhhhh!

Does the worthless thing sell for anything? I never bothered to go get it to check. I know that without keeping the other needed thing you get some 1000+ exp by doing that particular thing, instead of forsaking it for the worthless something. As for the idol itself, I found it worth more killing the doomsayer, although it seemed to be a beefy battle horror worth only the same amount. :(

I don't know if it sells for any decent amount. The only use I've heard of for it is to equip it to kaigan (he regenerates) and use it as a cheesy healing device. I am in the process of replaying the game since my save file on my best char was deleted, so I'll check as I go. shouldn't take me more than a few days to find out depending on how much free time I have between two jobs. :(

Imagine Kaigan, an evil dwarf telling one of his fellow party members "Hey - stand still for a while. I want to heal you with a mighty blow from this worthless item". Please tell me some way to roleplay that scene :D

It's not exactly parts of an airship, it's a collection of spell components required for the enchantments to turn a regular ship into a Halruaan skyship. The gem and spellbook I understand, but I've never been able to figure out the statue. Perhaps the whole thing is bound together by the firgurehead of the ship? Beats me.

As for the "quest" and "item" connected with the Idol, I pretend that the damn thing doesn't exist, and never has. Think about it: There are no references to it at all, in the entire game, no clues, no dialogue at all (even the person connected to it doesn't say anything about it), and in order to get the damn item you have to ANTI-roleplay: Take 2 items away from people, and FAIL to complete a quest, in order to take them to a third person who has nothing whatsoever to do with either of them. The only reason people know about this stupid "quest" at all is because somebody went digging through Infinity Explorer.
