hey, what do I need to open the gate at the pinnacle of the host tower?

I thought I did a good job of systematically wiping out everything in the tower, but apparently I missed something mighy important.

Can't help you sorry dude, all I did when I got there was walk up to the fence/gate, listen to the baddies speak for a bit and then they saw me and opened the gate themselves.
