I found a place called Wanev's tower.
I killed all the guards, killed Wanev and entered his summoning crypt where I found a heart. What am I supposed to do with this heart? I placed it in the Brazier and it destroyed the heart.

I did not save in fear that I did something wrong.

Also, what is Wanev's jewel for? and furthermore, is there a quest involving Wanev that I missed?

What's wrong with killing Wanev-I did. Anyway the jewel is used in a quest there is a guy in the town inn. I don't recall his name but you have to persuade him to give you the quest I think. There are also 2 other gems that you need for the quest.

Ideally, you don't kill Wanev. Then he gives you the quest to get the heart and destroy it in the brazier. That way, you should get more xp overall, though I haven't done a careful test of this.

Retrieving the three stones is a rogue quest. If you're not a rogue, you'll need to persuade the guy in the inn to give you the quest.

Wanev also has one of the five magic tomes. You probably picked it up as you looted the tower. Turn that into the lady in the magic shop.

Yeah...that is exactly why you do the quest and then kill him. From the veiw of chaos why leave anyone living if you don't have to? It's best to pry what you can from them and then kill them unless of coarse it means doing something good for someone the reward would have to be great for that..hehe.
