There is a single-player campaign. Some people have disliked it because it's very hack-and-slashish, but I've enjoyed it. You can also play the single-player campaign multiplayer, which probably makes it more fun but a LOT easier. Not that it was difficult in the first place.
There are 4 chapters, and imo it gets easier as you get further into the game, not harder. My Paladin had more difficulty killing the first semi-boss-monster than he had killing any of the dragons in the later chapters. For that matter, he died more in Chapter 1 than in the other 3 chapters combined, though a lot of that was to traps. |
I really enjoyed the single player campaign. It gives you a good introduction to the NWN and D&D rules, allows you to level up to 3 easily. I've played it partway through with at least a dozen different characters, only finished it once. Overall, I'd say it's about 40 hours long. I didn't think it would be that long, since the main thrust of NWN is on player built modules and playing on-line, so I was very pleased with the length and effort put into it.
