Katana's are the highest single handed bladed weapons out there... why can't I specialise in traning for it?

you must buy proficiency with exotic weapons first, then get weapon focus in Katana, and then at level 4 you can get specialization (wpn focus gives +1 to hit, specialisation gives +2 dam) (must be a warrior, ie paladin, fighter, or ranger to get wpn focus, and have at least 4 total lvls and then one as a fighter to specialise)

Is it only me, or are katanas small sized in NWN compared to BG?
