OK, I've flooded the mine, entered chapter five and it's time to go to BG. Problem is, I can't get there. I know you can't just click the map to go there and must travel over land. When I walk up the road at Friendly Arm Inn, I get to the top of the screen and it gives me the world map, but nothing further north is an option. What gives? I've seen all kinds of posts about this, and they all say 'you need to go to the bridge first' but I can't even get there...

exit Friendly arm Inn at the north border. You'll see a farm. Go to that farm and exit at the northern border. Then you'll see the bridge to BG. In chapter five the bridge will be down and you can cross it. Before the flooding of the mine the bridge is drawn and you can't cross.

i got to baldurs gate without flooding the mine so its just a sidequest

huh, you must have a bug or something because davaeorn in the flooded mines in needed to get to the next chapter

No that's not true Wah: yes there is a trigger in Davaeorns room which triggers the opening of the bridge but you CAN also get there simply by travelling (by accepting Mendas's quest you will also gain entrance)
