What do helmets do anyway. It says they protect against critical hits but they don't.

Yes they do protect against critical hits... but it means that the hit will not do double damage.. it will still do the normal damage...

Considering how cheap they are, you should always wear those... later you will find helmets with more abilities.

also different helmets have different abilities, there are a few "must haves" in the game

It should say:

Ajantis: Prtected against crital hits

Ajantis takes 4 damage.


Somthing like that. The damage comes up immediatly after the protections from critacal hits is indicated thats why you never really see it on your screen. atleast that is how it was for my game.

I've beaten the game but Ive never seen the message about protected from critical hits.

Helmets will not entirely protect you from critical hits, they merely reduce them to doing normal, rather than double damage. I believe the message you get is:

Critical hit averted by helmet

Nope, it goes like

Hobgoblin: Critical Hit
Imoen: damage taken (8)
Hobgoblin: Critical hit averted by helmet
Ajantis: damage taken (4)

Yeah thats what I meant I couldnt rember the exact word, something like that.
