I'm playing a neutral evil elven thief and I might have accidentaly murdered some innocent people and got my reputation at 3. The Flaming Fist is on me, and I'm not saying that running from the law isn't fun, but someday I might want to visit a city without dying in hands of Flaming Fist Battlewizards.
So: what would be a nice not ridiculously expensive way to get reputation? I returned Joia's flamedance ring; are there any more quests like that? BTW, are those special powers you get once a chapter linked to reputation? |
SPOILERS (of course)...
. . . . . . . . . . . There's a woman in a house in Beregost who's looking for news of her husband. A farmer north of the Nashkel Carnival needs help saving his cow. The mage Firebead Elvenhair is in Beregost looking for a book. All three of these are easy to reach and complete; the only gold you lose is the 2 gp or so the book costs. As to your other question, I believe that yes, they are linked to rep. |
The spells you gain are linked to your Alignment I believe, not your reputation. A Good character tends to gain spells like Cure Light Wounds, Slow Poison, then Draw Upon Holy Might, while Evil characters gain things like Larloch's Minor Drain, Horror, and Vampiric Touch. I may be wrong, but I am fairly sure...

No, it's reputation... I publicly stated it was alignment relatively recently, but I haven't played in a while and thus am issuing a retraction.. I'm pretty sure it's reputation.

Once you clear out the Cloakwood mines you get +1 reputation if you talk to the miner that is waiting outside for you.

Head to a church and just keep paying till your rep hits about 9 or 10. Then go around doing quests like clearing the Cloakwood Mines (IIRC, you can get +2 rep in total for the clearing of the mines. Going to Baldur's Gate will net you a LOT of rep points as well.

I think that qualifies as "ridiculously expensive."

In SoA it's no big deal to donate your way from a reputation of 3 to a reputation of 18... but gold is harder to come by on the Sword Coast. I just thought that the question was for cheap ways to boost rep.
