I was wondering who all has read these books. I really enjoyed them and am looking for more that are just as good. It seems that after reading these nothing else seems quite as good. Any suggestions? I've already tried other books by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman, but the Death Gate Cycle surpasses anything else they have written. I really like to read, but can't find the right book...

I've read these books too, really wonderful series. Have you read any of the DragonLance books?

yeah. the original six were pretty good, but it just wasn't very original. also, the rest of the books kinda ruined it...

I hate to beat a dead horse, but try The Chronicles of Thomas Covanent.

I can't remember the authors name of this enjoyable series, but a few of the books names are The Iron Tower ducology, Eye of the Hunter, DragonsBane, just to name a few. All of the books tie together over the ages, and he has written quite a few in the series...

I read Dragonlance and the Death Gate Cycle when I was a teen and enjoyed them immensely. I picked up a Weis book last year and although it was of a similar style I just couldn't get into it anymore... not sure why.

The Thomas Covenant books are excellent.

The Thomas Covenant books were written by Stephen R. Donaldson.

The author is Dennis L. McKiernan

I must say that I found the Death Gate cycle a disappointment - especially the ending

Read Raymond Feist or Terry Goodkind. I've read the Deathgat cycle and while good, it doesn't hold a candle to either of these two authors. Robert Jordan is good as well, but I don't like him as much as Feist and Goodkind.

The books are ok, but... I'd suggest:
L.E. Modesitt (his books, especially some of the later ones, are VERY (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) good!)
Dennis L. McKiernan good books!
David Eddings
Terry Goodkind
Raymond E. Feist
Robert Jordan (pretty good)
Terry Pratchett
Hmm... R.A. Salvatore is pretty good too, as are Ed Greenwood, Troy Denning, and Elaine Cunningham... hmm...
I know I'm forgetting a lot of other authors...

Yeah, I like Margaret Weis books too and I agree that they are pretty shallow compare with books by other authors, however I feel that this quality may be why it is so good. Whenever I read Books by Margeret Weis and of it's ilk I seldom take over a day. The plot is always simple the sentence used is straight to the point. The heroes that Weis usually puts into her stories are always interesting too!
