ok this is about the only topic i will want to read here. sorry but i like to watch movies for myself not discuss them, and as much as i enjoy reading other kinds of books, i'm really picky!

anyway, i reccomend the song series by catherine coulter, and the bride quest series by claire delacroix. i also enjoyed glynnis campbells series, the knights of de ware.

the song series starts with warriors song, which i feel is well written for the most part, but parts of the story feel skipped near the end. in fire song and earth song there is much suspense, and not too much skipping. many of the problems solved are described in detail. again in secret song there is a skipping phase tho. a few months that don't seem clear.

the bride quest was intended to just be three books, but ended up being 5, at least. i haven't heard of anymore. they are all done nicely, and lead well into each other for the most part.

very similar to the bridequest, the knights of deware is basically aboutt eh same thing, three brothers finding wives. but that is where the major similarities end. there are some subtle ones, that i didn't catch until thinking about it.

anyone else have reccomendations?

OK, I'll bite. The closest I've come to reading romance was the Earth's Children series by Jean Auel. The first book is "Clan of the Cave Bear," an excellent novel, but not a romance. The series becomes Stone Age erotica from there. Maybe if you read romance regularly you'll like them a lot; personally, I just liked the first one so much I HAVE to know what happens. Andre Norton, the scifi and fantasy Grand Dame, wrote a few romance novels as well, about pirates and brooding estates. (She's my favorite author.) I have also brought home "Shamara" by Catherine Spangler but haven't read it yet.

i think i heard of earths children in another forumy type online thing, but it was kind of a half conversation, so i didn;t get into it...but i did hear it is addictive! the one woman bought the first one then went online and bought the rest! oh my. i think most of them turn into erotica type stuff, but my husband doesn't mind ;)

OK, just finished "Shamara"...it was pretty good, now I want to read the rest of the series! It's futuristic, not historical, with psychic people in outer space. Dammit I have been sucked in!

Many years ago I read a few of Nigel Tranter's books. Worth a look if you can track them down.

Historical romance, I suppose the old master is Dumas. The COunt of Monte Cristo and the Three musketeers And so on.
