Has anyone seen it? Is it any good?

The original or the remake? Not seen the remake - the original was awesome though. It contains some really rather cutting comments on materialism and consumer culture. And zombies. Lots of zombies.

Was the Dawn of the Dead the one black and white where a group of people went into an old farmhouse, and then heard from a radio inside the house that the area they're in is crawling with zombies, and the only way to escape was through an underground passage?

If it is, then that movie rocked. :D

<font face="Verdana" size="3" color="#00FF00">No, I could be wrong but I think that was "Night of the Dead". I just recently purchased the DVD for that one $3. Definitly worth $3 if you ask me. That was the movie that started it all. It is a true classic the ending was good two. The one dude Survives the night only.... Well no need to tell the ending.

Crazy NRA dudes hunting zombies.

Dawn of the Dead is the sequel to Night of the Living Dead. Its about four people holing themselves up in a shopping mall and defending against zombies. Its basically a very clever satire mixed with some real gross out horror. The people are alternately terrified (when fleeing zombies) and elated (when having the free run of the shops...) throughout the film. And the survivors of the plague, like in the Night of the Living Dead, are often much more threatening than the zombies themselves...

And at no point is any explanation offered as to why the dead have risen. Now thats how you do a zombie film! None of this 28 Days Later crap about monkeys with "Rage" viruses...

The original black and white version is called "Night of the Living Dead" (close, pritchke ;) ). Oh, and uss, you have most of the plot of it, but there was no underground passage (they had the option to hide out in the cellar). And yes, the movie rocked, as did the original Dawn of the Dead (sequel to Night of the Living Dead; great social satire in that one). Day of the Dead was the third installment, and a pale comparison to the other two. I haven't seen the remake of Dawn of the Dead; I'll wait for cable. 28 Days Later was good but not great; I like the alternate ending better than the "Hollywood ending" they came up with.

Oh, and avoid the remake version of Night of the Living Dead at all costs (it's in color, and Tony Todd stars in it). It sucks really, really bad.

Oh yes, so the Night of the Living Dead it was.

I remember that when we had the Night of the Living Dead III coming from TV at one time a few years after I saw the original. I was so excited that I'd see almost as great of an experience as I had with the Night of the Living Dead I. You should've seen my face when I was finally dead-sure that those movies have nothing in common. :D

Um...there was no Night of the Living Dead II or III (the sequels were called Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead, so other that the "dead" part you could not tell they were sequels). I think you are confusing the movie series "Return of the Living Dead" with Night of the Living Dead. Return of the Living Dead is a pretty good comedy/horror movie series, though the third one was dead serious (and thus not that good). If you see a group of punk-rock kids getting eaten by the zombies, and the zombies are going "Brains!", then you are watching Return of the Living Dead (first one). Night of the Living Dead happens in a farmhouse for the most part; Return of the Living Dead happens between a cemetary, funeral parlor, and medical supply shop (all next door to each other). I only saw Return of the Living Dead II once, and it was mediocre. Return of the Living Dead III you can tell because a young woman is the main zombie.

Don't want to spoil too much, so I would recommend going by the video rental place and picking up Night of the Living Dead (not the version that came out in 1980, that is the god awful one; the pictures on the cover will be in black and white for the good version), Dawn of the Dead, and Return of the Living Dead (I at least, and maybe II). If you are still not "zombied out" by that point, pick up 28 Days Later. All decent zombie flicks. Oh, and another poor one to avoid is Zombie.

Aye, I saw the Return of the Living Dead, with the punk-rock kids and god-awful punk-rock soundtrack. :D The "This movie is based on a true story" tag was so stupid. The whole plot was, in fact. I really-really didn't like it when I saw it, since I was looking from a 'Horror movie' perspective.

Anyway, I'll check those movies out.

One thing I don't understand about these movie is that how does those people become zombies in the first place? what happen actually?
