I've been soloing this game for a week or two now, and I've grown kind of bored of soloing. I hit the level cap before getting into the city of Baldur's Gate, and I want to give a "dynamic duo" game a try. I'd also like to invite everybody to give this a try!
The dynamic duo game goes like this: You play with only two characters. They can both be player made, or you can go with a protagonist and an NPC. I've had the itching to play a multiclassed Cleric/Ranger, and thought a cool sidekick would be a gnome Thief/Illusionist. I've had second thoughts though, and now plan on using Imoen, my childhoood friend, as my sidekick. So, lets see how this game works out. I'd like to invite everybody else to give a dynamic duo game a try too! I think updates and stuff would be a lot of fun! BTW, I plan on exporting this game into BG2 and continuing it the whole way, if I can! |
Looking forward to seeing how you get on!

hmm, sounds intereresting, but if you take Imoen you`re alone again in BG2...
And then? who will you take? Or dont you know that yet? but im really looking forward to see how this party works;) |
I know the spoilers, DD, but I'm not sure what I'll do. Maybe fly solo for a while, maybe I'll just get her right away, who knows? I haven't even made it to Beregost yet!

Ah, hte Batman and Robin campaign. awesome. I'll take My Ranger, and Kivan through the series. Thank you Kivan of Shilmista mod ;)

Heh, you are doing EXACTLY what I did. However, I lost interest and didn't finish, but it was fun while it lasted. It felt wierd giving Imoen all this awesome equipment (usually there are better suited wielders of varscona), but a duo cleric/ranger and theif->mage are great.

Hi, I have played through BG1 + TOTSC on a couple of occasions using a duo and found it to be quite interesting. It avoids some of the boring slog that you get with a pure solo, while maintaining the ‘you against the rest of the world’ challenge that makes it worthwhile.
Both my duo’s came from solo characters that needed help. On the first occasion I had a male Bard and chose to add a female Bard to be his companion – 2 Bards gives lots of flexibility. On another occasion I had a Cleric/Ranger who I found to be a bit short of firepower, so I went for a ‘use them and lose them’ policy, where I brought in a different helper for each chapter. (For TOTSC I went to a trio, so that I could include both Tiax and Quayle – giving an unusual party of 3 multi-class Clerics |
