Is Wiz8 turnbased or realtime?

I hope its not like W&W

because it turns into a game of quake with u running around &
dodging out of the way of spells and casting your own spells back at
them.

Wizardry 8 is what Sir-Tech likes to call phase-based. It is like a turn based system, only not in the sense where all characters and monsters get an attack each round, then move onto the next round. Depending on speed, initiative, and the action being performed, some characters may get multiple turns before another slower character gets one. It may be possible to get two or three attacks in on a monster before that moster gets one.

BTW, this is the very same system that has existed with the Wizardry series all the way back to Wiz I. Sir-Tech has always been known for pushing the envelope with their AI with the Wizardry series, which is one reason for the series' popularity.

(And WW COULD have done this, too, if they had taken a little trouble! Bradley worked on 3 Wizardry titles and was well familiar with that engine.)
