Hi everyone - still not playing yet (GRRRR!!!!!), but I am strolling the forums for info. Apparently several people (sounds like a 1 in 10 rate) are having crashes loading saved games in the Ascension Peak area. One of the Wiz 8 developers at the VNboard has already developed a patch for this issue (same day service huh - now that's impressive) and it is on his personal website - it will be loaded onto the official Wiz 8 board shortly, but if you need it in a hurry, follow the post at the VNBoard forum.

Hoping to join you all soon, and when the game comes I can

Copy of the post follows :

It has come to our attention that some people are having a problem loading up the Ascension Peak area of the game. We have tracked down the cause of this and have a fix for it! With the fix, Ascension Peak now loads just fine. No need to restart or anything :). I would suggest that everyone downloads this file, it may save you some grief later on.

The file is only 38K. It is temporarily available here at my personal web site:

http://www.geocities.com/perkopoulos/Wiz8Patch001.zip

Personal note from Davros : the link will say "No page available" if you left click it, because it is a file not a web page - you need to right click on the link, and use the "Save Target as" option.

We will make it properly available through the Sirtech support website ASAP, for now I just wanted anyone stuck to be able to continue.

Instructions: The file is zipped up. Use WinZip or similar, and extract it to the ROOT of your Wizardry 8 install directory. It should create its own subfolder called Patches, and place the file within. If you're using another unzipper, make sure the file is placed within its subdirectory
