I'm running Wiz 8 straight outta the box, and man, i'm loving it!... As a closet member of restarters anon., i've restarted at least 5 times i think... anyway, my question is just as the topic asks. Should i patch or no? I love pickpocketing, and would hate to lose the ability to rob all them merchants blind, but i don't want to be unable to finish the game.
anyone have some light to shed?

I have not patched yet. Mostly because its on a laptop that's not connected to the lan. Here's what you can do - which is what I am doing - rob everyone blind. I have gone through Arnika, Trynton, Swamp, Wilderness areas, without a problem. So if you rob everyone you run into, you should get your pick pocketing up to at least 80 or so (which is where mine is currently sitting). At that point, it's pretty much safe to patch, cuz your skill is extremely high.

I played the game and completed it with the early December patch, that is one prior to the one that affected pick pocket.

I am going back through with several different parties and trying different scenarios and have not run into any problems thus far.

Have fun

No offence to Sir Tech but after the mess of the 12_12 patch and the problems it caused I won't patch beyond the very first one. As it is I haven't run into any problems that I think requires another patch. The choice in the end is your so good luck.

I HAD to install the first patch, which fixes the Ascention Peak crash simply because, well, I couldn't get into the final area of the game. That patch fixed the problem, and didn't create any OTHER problems for me. From that point on, however, I'm not about to download any of the other patches that have been released. I hate the way that pickpocketing has been nerfed, since my thief is my favorite character and pickpocketing his favorite passtime. This means that my gadgeteers will never be able to purchase duct tape or create any of the gadgets requiring electrodes, since Anna flat doesn't have them unless you install one of the patches fixing that bug. Still, gaining electrodes is not worth the pickpocketing nerf, so I'm happy playing the way I'm playing and won't take a chance on screwing it up. *grin*

well after applying the last patch i beagn expierencing game crashes;
also rightclick descriptions of items messed up, like : RESISTANCES: LONG; Gadgeteer level : Bard level; names of character statistics messed up too : it says 'LOAD' instead of HP etc;
i think i'll return to pure cd version;

Did you see the post made by Linda on IGN, their own support site and maybe here (I wasn't around at the time)? She described text screw-ups similar to the "load" you mention and said it was down to a mis-installation of the patch. I didn't have a problem so don't know first-hand, maybe it is what your suffering from?
