The portal spellbook in Trynton? Killed the rat breeders, talked to the guys who said thanks...then off to the Northern Wilderness or the Swamp (Swamp was a little tough.....) But I dont have the Portal spellbook........any thoughts?

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's the book in the 7th bough area, where the Rapax are.

Don't quote me either. The portal "book" may be a common spell that you shooould give to anyone who can use it, if it's combined with "Return". If it's a quest item, look for more clues. Explore!

Does the portal book work the same as learning the spell on level-up?

I mean, on level up, if you learn the portal spell, you automatically get return to portal as a bonus (and vice versa). If this bonus doesn't come with the spellbook, I'd say wait till level-up, or an easy place to find the spellbook (I'm only in Trynton first time, so I haven't seen what other shopkeepers sell)

There are "Set" books and "Return" books. You need to find one of each to get both spells.

I levled up my mage and picked the portal spell, it gives you the portal and return. In turn I used the spellbook for my priest and it did the same, giving you portal and return.
