I was thinking about changing Aerie's portrait in Shadowgate when I noticed that she has a Local Variable (under the Affects tab) called AERIEHASPROPERPORTRAIT.

Does anyone know if I can change her portrait without screwing up the game?

Dont you mean ShadowKeeper? if so then screw-ups tend to show up immediatly.

id guess it has to do with some subquest or other, although i dont see where it fits into aeries quests - unless its for when shes illusioned into an ogre when you first meet her?

Don't worry about that variable, you can change her portrait. It doesn't do anything.
