Hi!

Does anyone know which skill is more important:
'close combat' or the weapon skills like 'sword', 'dagger', etc.?

Sword, dagger, staff etc is more important, but will normally raise faster than close combat.

If you have a lizardman fighter for example with 30 intelligence and 30 senses, your close combat skill will raise very slowly, so it's a good idea to put points into this skill then.

Also, when (close combat)+(weapon skill) is more than 100, you will get an extra attack. This is not exactly true, but I think that it has something to do with it. It's a combination of your skills and initiative that gives extra attacks.

check out this link, it gives a very good overview of what benefits stats/skills actually give you (including close combat):
