I'd been playing W-8 for such a long time, and then my Explorer crashed, so i got Quick-Restore software from Compaq; Win98 and all that stuff, and i got the supplimental Softpaqs and loaded the drivers from there, but now i can't adjust the Gamma in the Options.Video page and the game is Way Too Dark!
Can somone direct me to the Driver i must need? (Compaq Presario with an iiyama monitor, just 128 Ram and no Graphics accelerator, game worked slow, but all the controls functioned before; just lost all the drivers in my big crash.)

Click on: start menu - settings - control panal - display
click on the settings tab then the advanced button.
A new windows should open up; click through the tabs to
see if your able to see any gamma controls.

This is assuming windows installed some drivers for it.
If it requires updated drivers from the manufacturer then
you'll need to find out what Presario series\model you have.

Try their website:

You can also try the auto detect if your not sure of the model\
series you have.

thankses. That's an interesting way to make it look like Maxfield Parrish drew it, but it's lighter in there. I still want to know why i can't use the game's video option interface Gamma slider...?

Did you find any updated video drivers on that site?

Btw, what graphics interface do you have selected when
you run the setup.exe?

otter 07-28-2002 12:33 AM

That's where i got the CD's with the drivers i have. I'm very ignorant of things like "setup.exe" and cannot answer your question.

Dark Hermit 07-28-2002 12:38 AM

The setup for wizardry 8. (try selecting directx7 or 6)

Btw, tell me your computer spec's. (exp. series\model\OS)

Thanks. Heh, i went and looked, your answer is even on P2 of the Manual. Presario 7478 with 8 extra MB, Winlose 98. I'm gonna get an accelerator soon.

I'm not 100% sure if this is your driver, but it does match your
system.

You can try it and see if it fixes your problem. Although you might
already have it installed, it shouldn't hurt to reinstall them.
(just make sure you follow the instructions.)
