Everytime I try to do something I get jumped by highwaymen. Every 100 yards seems a bit much. And since combat takes FOREVER it gets a bit aggravating!!!!! I cant seem to get anything done with all these constant battles for no reason. Whats up with this?

This was one of the more aggravating things about the game for me, too, especially at low levels where the random encounters are really dangerous and take a long time to complete.

It's not so bad at higher levels where you can either 1) shred whatever you encounter in a matter of minutes or 2) drop one portal wherever you are, have another in a "safe" location, and portal to safety when you need to rest up/restock ammunition.

The good news is, you're getting lots of xp and a chance to raise your skills, this being especially important with hybrid characters who have to worry about combat skills and magical abilities that all need points.

If you're getting too many random encounters - try momentarily turning down the difficulty of the game, until you get to Arnika or feel that your party is better handled to take them on.

Thanks for the suggestions, I may turn down the difficulty between trying to get from one place to another. I like the exp points but its just gotten on my f*cking nerves lol

Yah, it is a bit of a fighty game altogether, another thing i've done is to save levels, entering the next zone to spawn, say, at L5 and then taking a level or two so the party is strong enough. There are a couple of spots that are really overmatched. Arnika Road is notorious for that, esp if you are L6-11.

If you are on the Arnika road it is the worst place for a low level party and you can SEE the enemy so you can also "run" from them if you want and DONT walk on the road walk on the sides of it near the montains and so on and go to Arnika ASAP ther you can get better weapons and get tons of xp fighting those Savant guys hehe and when you fight them try to stay in a doorway to protect your mages and priests this also is best if you fight out in the wildeness try to back in to a tree or a montain so they done sourround your party. Also to get the battles to go a little faster inn settings set it to fastest combat.

Yeah, I faced this problem too. I hate Piercer Modais!!! It's not the highwaymen who drive me crazy. Piercer Modais are so damn tough and their hits cost alotta stamina, so my fighters always become tired just at the beginning of the battle. Highwaymen are easy to handle: Protection from missiles, one or two fireballs and as they get closer spells like shrill sound, piercing pipes and dracon breath. So much for the highwaymen.

Heh! I love a fight with Modais and/or Juggernauts. This is where Rest All proves its point--esp if you have a Gad and/or Bard. Everybody gets so many Skill increases pounding away on those Rhino-Hides.

Lure them to a spot where only two can hit you. And then drive _them_ crazy.
They are quite suspectible to insanity. And then add Armormelt. And watch them killing themselves.

It takes a long time to kill them though. But with much magic power it doesn't take that long.
