Ok, this was supposed to be a simple quest and this will sound really silly to most of you ....... but how do I activate the *damm* rocket ? Was going round and round, went up the control tower, hit the machine and it asked for some control code of which I have absolutely no idea! I know I'm supposed to put the tracking device somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't find the place!

Did i miss anything .... again ?

I haven't gotten that far yet - I restarted with my second party just before that spot in the game. However, I've found that the walkthrough on this site: http://www.volberding.com/Wizardry8/Wiz8Main.htm is very useful.

Thanks Tuckyboy...unfortunately that would turn the Umpani against me as it isn't part of the alliance mission [img]smile.gif[/img] But the site you pointed me to helps cos I've checked there before and somehow missed the T'rang/Umpani alliance notes.

However, I'm still puzzled as the walkthu given in the T'rang/Umpani notes doesn't say how I could use the tracking device on the small control panel (in the first rocket). Is there a slot somewhere that I'm supposed to use ?

I *think* you use it on one of the square, orange colored lights that you see all over Umpani land...

Try moving your cursor slowly all over the area and watch for it to turn to a hand... thats how I had to find half the [nonexistant] keyholes in the rapax castle.

You know what, i actually went hunting...almost all the squares and almost ended up with eyeball cramps ! hahaha !
Anyway, I still couldn't find it. I tried the square on the control panel next to the rocket and though a hand appears, when i click on it the message about the coordinates and some blah blah comes up. I tried using the tracking device too and it kept telling me "On second thoughts, you decide you might need it later"
Then i went and crashed the Umpani ship, ended up fighting all the Umpanis and after every round my party will say something like 'This is serious, have to undo the deed'.
Sigh, I'm totally lost here.

Thats the correct place.
With the item, you probably missed the right spot. It's pretty small.

BTW there are two rocket launchers. Maybe try the other one.
I think one is for the Dark Savants ship, the other for the T'Rag one.

Far as I know, its impossible to un-hosile the Umpani after crashing their ship, so you may need to go back to an earlier save game if you want to do the alliance thing.

The rocket launcher you need is the one at the end of the landing strip nearer your entrance to this area. Once you find the sweet spot [where you get the hand cursor], you should be able to add the tracking device without difficulty.

Just a thought: you have talked to Yamir and received the 'official' security pass to this area, right? While the fake one Kunnar gives you will get you to the area, I don't think the rocket will fire if you haven't spoken to Yamir...

Thanks guys.... yep, I managed to speak with Yamir to get the official pass to get here. I'll try again with my earlier saved game and go real slow over the control panel. Sure hope I get it this time cos it gets pretty frustrating to be stuck for a while.
