I can't find the mushrooms in the Northern Wilderness. I've placed the staff in the stone and walked the area but no sign of the ring. Is this a random thing or is
it usually in the same spot? I've never done these before.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I don't want to leave the
area due to the problems some have mentioned with doing that. Thanks

If you see the green light on the stone, you did indeedb spawn the mushroom circle. It is not far, slightly north and maybe a bit west of the ruins if I remember right. Not far at all. Now that it is activated, it should stay there. The problem mentioned, I think, is if you only activate a portion of the runes and leave the area. Let us know if you find it. Z.

Thanks Z; I know I got all the runes ; then I went to the stone (the small one next to the large one) which was glowing pink. I got the hand cursor and then look the short staff from my inventory and clicked on it. The staff disappeared and I assumed I had done everything right. (I havn't left the area yet)

On another note: I was close to those ruins there and I noticed a small well which you can interact with. Does anyone know what item to use here? I thought maybe an empty bottle or something but I didn't work.

Variol,

When you put the staff in the stone, do you see it visually or do you see a white dot on the radar? I once had the problem that you're describing. I had placed the staff into the stone and it showed as a white dot on the map (as if I'd discarded it), but there was staff to be seen and no mushroom ring. Luckily, I had a second short staff, put it into the stone, and everything worked. When it works correctly, you should be able to see the mushroom ring simply by turning around in a circle.

I didn't mention this scenario previously because I thought it was just a quirk that I'd stumbled across (the game seems to have these occasionally) and I'd never seen it before or after the one time.

Good luck,
tuck

Nix on the well, although it looks likely to do something. Master Tuck may have a point, I think I lost a short staff there, too! It's a PITA if you have to go find another. If so, I recommend Burz in the Monastery, he carries the lowest lev stuff.

P.S. I'm in that dungeon, or should I say "Dung Eon". I forgot how hard it was. I can get out (blue lines around a mush circle) but am wandering around almost randomly to find the dark place I have to go. Good luck!?

THANKS GUYS. I started again from an old save game since I covered my other one by accident.
I saw Burz for a new staff and went back to all the trees. I think I might not have had all the runes lit, 'cos I looked at some of them after and they were not lit. I think I got into a combat and thought I had it all done. I did get the ring this time (right behind me (south)) and I'm going in. I think I'm only about lvl8, am I in for a beating?

At level eight, I would say yes. If you can handle the locks and golem guys, there are some Anthracite ones who really kick, you may be OK. I think I had a hard time at level 10 or so. But I am at lev 20 now, with a small party. They barely touched me. Also, you can get out without finishing it. I didn't see any Sir whatevers, got frustrated and just left. Got some good stuff and helped my stats. But lev 8 looks like a challenge. Keep the outside save!!!

I've encountered a couple of Coal Golems and handled them with not too much trouble. Even dungeon 1 had some pretty tough customers but I managed to get through it. These guys seem to be about the same level so far. I think that my 4
out of six magic party is having a harder time than if I had more fighters.

I just click on it (or, usually, i ignore it). I think it might have a random effect, but usually none. In an early game, i got some bad condition from it - don't recall which one.
