I need a mage for my party..

my party is

Me (Paladin)
Minsc
Jaheira
Yoshimo
Jan Janssen

I would like another mage but Edwin is evil (and that wouldn't work with my paladin.) and Nalia is just like Imoen

are there any other mages that are NOT multi-classed? or should I just go with Haer-Dalis as support "mage" and Jan Janssen as first mage until I get Imoen?

Aerie, She is really annoying but she has cleric and mage spells, It seems you need a cleric and you ask for a mage, Aerie is your choice.

Some people diss Aerie. I have a similar party to yours, and I use her. Now she is AC -1, and she has some killer wands. I had a fight yesterday and everyone except her and me (archer) were in confusion and she almost single-handedly took out an enemy mage or two, a cleric and a thief.

She earned her supper on that day!

Actually I don't need a cleric, I'm a paladin that means I get Cleric spells + I have Jaheira and Minsc who both get druid spells.

oh and I already had Aerie in my party in a game that went up until the elven city and I really didn't use her that much.

she is usefull enough sure but why get her if I can get Nalia for the spell section and already have 3 guys that can get healing spells.

Healing spells with a paladin and ranger are very limited. Only the paladin's lay on hands ability is good but they don't get high level spells. Jaheira gets them allright but in my games, she doesn't have a lot of those high level healing spells memorized. She has a lot better attack spells then a cleric and i like to let her use those.

Your Paladin doesn't really count as a cleric though. Yes he can cast some of the cleric spells like heal but he is not going to have access to the good stuff offered by a true cleric. Jaheira is ok but I felt like she needed help, especially since I have a tendency to get her into the thick of things either fighting or casting offensive spells. Using Aerie would give you a backup to Jan along with a fairly capable cleric.

Out of interest how can a palidin have a romance with jaheria, when druids are ment to be keeping balance and palidins want everything to be good?

and the main reason that I don't want to get aerie still is her whiny dialoge. I can't roleplay a paladin and tell her off. and eventually you get Jaheira vs Aerie and that's very ugly. especially when she starts insulting Khalid (RIP [img]tongue.gif[/img] )

The problem with Imoen and Nalia is that neither of them is much of a Thief. Imoen's Level 7, sure, but with the stupid way the folks at BioWare arranged her skills, there's nothing she can do that Jan can't do better. Nalia's going to be maybe 1 or 2 Mage levels ahead of Imoen at the beginning, but that will quickly even out, so I figure I'll just take Imoen for the roleplay value. If you can't have Imoen right now, go for Nalia.
