The following contains Chapter 4 spoilers, ToB ending spoilers and item spoilers,
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Just my $0.02 worth. I am all for spoiler tags, because I want to try and avoid removing too much of a newbie's anticipation when he/she plays the game for the first time. Some have argued why we push for spoiler tags when there has been spoilers elsewhere. I ask them this, why did you not do something back then and asked the person politely to edit his/her post to something more 'newbie friendly'? By sitting back and doing nothing, you have no right to chastise others who actively try to do something about it. You can tell them to do it politely if they are being too harsh about it, but do not mock their efforts, because at least they bother to do something about it. If someone unintentionally posts a spoiler( and that includes me), then please, please, tell that person so. Do not keep quiet, because it will only worsen the problem. Maybe today we allow item spoilers like mentioning Celestial Fury, or Crom Faeyr. What about tomorrow? Tell the whole world that you fight Melissan in the final battle in ToB? That Jon Irenicus turns into a Slayer in the Nine Hells for the final battle in SoA? If someone talks about the Underdark, do not do nothing and complain to the others why that person can put a spoiler in his/her post. Actually do something about it and tell that person to edit it so that he/she tags a Chapter 4 spoiler tag to the topic's title or at the top of his/her posts. You have the right to do this, use that right instead of just complaining. One important thing to take note though, always be polite about it, because a person is always more willing to listen to a friendly voice. There, my rant of the day is done. Feel free to comment, debate and discuss this matter nicely in this thread. Cheers. |

<font color="gold">I absolutely agree with you, Dundee.
Just think of all the ones here that are new to the game, do you think they appreciate to be told fx. how the game ends?! I dont think so. I always put up spoiler-alerts in my messages, and I think you should do to. BTW, great idea putting up this discussion, Dundee!</font> see ya! |

And besides, you could make a lot of fuss about it now, but within a month, the posters on this board are completely different from the posters now and they won't read anything of what you just posted. It took me a while on BGDungeon as well before I realized what a "spoiler" was, or that I was posting a few of my own as well. It happens. It can't be stopped either, there are always posters around who do it, even if it's just by accident, and you can't really blame them for that either; to err is human, it just happens. Just point it out in a polite way is enough, like you said. Just don't rant about it or get angry about it, you would drive yourself crazy for even trying to rid the board of spoiler posters. It's not a crusade against evil, it's just pointing out someone made a mistake. ;) |
Well, just for the record, I usually close one eye whenever I see a spoiler. I only step in when I feel it is a big spoiler. I am not psychotic enough to go on a rampage to cleanse the forums of all spoilers big and small, that would be too formidable a task for any normal human being.
I just want people to know that it is alright to ask a person to edit his/her post. Just be nice about it. |

Now let's just hope people will notice your post then and take their own conclusions. ;) |
Sorry about my rudeness, I realize that I was being somewhat argumentative in defending Worm.
I don't mean to complain. I realize that by even coming to this board, I'm subconsciously looking for opinions, acceptance, and yes, even spoilers. My hoity-toity language just disguises that fact. I just don't like it when someone bashes another for doing something that EVERYONE has been guilty of at one time or another, yet forgets that fact in the face of their tirade. I've posted things about the game that I felt weren't really spoilerish, and that it comes down to a subjective analysis, what I think is NOT what someone else feels. Just mentioning the name of a weapon, a place, or an NPC could be considered spoilerish. I didn't know about Sarevok until I came to this board, but I accepted the fact that it was my own damn fault for looking at the posts! If you don't want to be spoiled, its a simple matter of not looking at any of the posts that might include a spoiler, such as technical issues. Its the same argument about free speech in the face of pornography. I say, if you don't like it, don't look for it! No one is pushing it in your face. You make the conscious decision to do so. Just like with this site. If you don't want to see a spoiler, don't look at posts with stuff you haven't heard about. No more whiny! ;) |
<font color="red"> One Little question regardin item spoilers...
Do these include mentioning things such as crom fayer which are metione in the manual??</font> |
Since it is in the manual, I guess it is okay to talk about it freely; but if you are referring to the components' locations, then that is a different story.
