Hi guys, back to Wiz 8 after a while. I am in the Monastery, training my bunch-of-4 up for Arnika road. Now I am wondering whether the quality of attacks depends only on the skills or also on the level of the characters? For example, is a level 3 fighter with values in Close Combat, Dual Weapons, and Sword as good as a higher level fighter who has THE SAME values for the skills (and who uses the same weapons)?

Thanks for your answers! Cheers, Legolas73

I haven't tested this using an editor, but I'm inclined to say that there is indeed a level modifier for skills, which combined with high dexterity and speed can influence such things as number of attacks. I say this because I often see a jump in the number of attacks at higher levels even for characters who had already maxed their dexterity. Similarly, there is a level modifier for casters that effects the power level of casting, and this is particularly noticeable for the level 6 and 7 spells where realm/school skills of 100 but at a relatively low experience level will be practically irrelevant until a higher experience level is reached.

I agree with Sinteuil. In my experience there does seem to be some sort of level modifier in the game that will affect your character's skills.

I think skills like Critical Strike compare your level and the target's to determine chance of success as well which is why you seem to see less instant kills on enemies with a much higher level than your own characters.

It's fun to see these level modifiers kick in, in the middle of a battle. Oops, maybe they are stat mods! There definitely is a level effect, you can do much more damage (is it penetration power?) the more levels up you get. The differential between levels gives you an advantage when attacking high powered critters. You also get stat mods increases when you reach critical numbers, like 50 for dual weapons or the weapon of use. It's satisfying to watch, when you change from 2x to 3x attacks in same battle.
