I killed a guy in the Ummer hills(?)village and didn't mind the drop in my reputation(see previous) I finished all the known quests there ( except the drunken kids... what's that about?)so I don't think i have to go back but if i do, will the town let me be?

Well, my evil guys didnt have any need to appease any innocents they killed so I never tried. Dire charm may work as a temporary solution as it worked in BG1. If the merchants there are ill toward you you may never get their good stuff unless you have already. I'd try dire charm then click on the talk button and try to initiate dialogue with a charmed peon with a mage character that has a high charisma and with friends cast.
Spell Spoiler ( dont read unless you wanna find by yourself)

Also the friends spell is cumalitive so multiple consectutive castings will grant you a 25 charisma and get you chaeper stuff from merchants (50% off!!!!!!)

The Umar Hills aren't exactly a center of activity, unless you're a ranger. The drunken kids with swords quest was just stupid - probably even more stupid than the Littleman quest. I took their 300 gp and scarpered. Low, yes, but still pretty amusing.
In any case, I think they'll forget about it after a while.

Just to illustrate how this game can be biased towards goodly folk, that stupid Littleman quest is worth something like 12000 xp which is a LOT more than the kill Hendak for Lehtinan quest.
