Hi,

I feel really stupid! I have completed level one and an now standing by the portal (as it indicates on the map). There is nothing to see though. I have the key which I can't take out of my hand and which doesn't come up as an item to use. The message on the map says that the portal is locked. Help! How do I get the portal to operate? I expect its really simple but its passed me by!

By level 1, you mean Chapter 1 ? To go out of Irenicus prison ?

If you have the portal key in inventory, walk close to the portal and click on it. If you don't teleport... well, hmmmm....

I didn't even know they were Catholic!!

Whoops - I've gone red in the face for being so inprecise!! I am indeed in Irenicus' Dungeon and am standing by the door that leads north to the genie. On the map, there is a square box saying 'locked portal' but I cannot actually see anything in the corridor. My characters appear to be standing directly on the box that shows on the map but its only corridor in 'real life'!

Thanks for such quick responses. I'm going to have my hair done now (in real life that is) so will look again later.

The portal key goes to the teleport portals, like the one justnorth of the cell and the one west of the nice room. The door to the genie will be unlocked be the air-elemental statue found in Irenicus' whifes old room, I think.

ok...you need a statue that is grey and that is the key...you find it

.You need the statue, I think. When you first clicked on the door it said so. The statue is in Irenicus' bed-sit, on the other side of the Otyurgh Pit.

O.K. I have got the statue and have given the genie his bottle so all that is complete but I still can't see a portal anywhere around. what do they look like?

There are two portals but you can use either one as they transport you to the same spot. One is directly opposite the dryads, across Jon's room (not the room with all the traps)
The other is in a little room just above the cell where Jaheira was locked in.
