Well a little thing i noticed tweaking about late some nights ago. To get the most out of your game in speed and not having any lags is to take and check out the box for "Steps" Thoose little sounds when you´re characters move around, they make you´r soundcard work at it´s absolute top and thus when lot of things happens this is a performance eater big time. Try yourslef and if you find something else please post it up!

Good game everyone.

Yeah,i agree .
Turning down/off several sound options is often the best way to gain performance. Those sounds use up a helluva lot of resources.

Yep, i still have a creative Live 5.1 soundcard with latest driveers and EAX at light effect support.. Damn, is this the new hardware race?? A 500 Mhz soundcad with 128 mb ram on???

Also, for some--turn OFF the OpenGL and 32 bit textures and it'll be A LOT faster. (I did this with IWD:HOW because it was slow, but with BG2 it's fine..) weird.

Damned Hardwear Freaks http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif
I'm stuck with my 333mhz Pentium 2 playing HOW with 200mb free for cache
Try turning of Background Audio. I turned it off and my HOW runs like the wind (without that damned wind from the Burial Isle)
More obvious solutions would be to run in lower resolutions, disable translucent shadows, and if you don't mind a drop in realism, disable static animation

Why?

I still have a 200 Mhz with 96Mb RAM. Thanks for the tips on the Sound Cards. Having beaten BG2 3 times, I've just installed HOW. I'll give this a try

LOL
Lifetime! hehe, well comes with the job to know what you are working with to make things work for customers.. And well since I´m deeply into graphics, I don´t want to turn down to much of it, just wanted to know which thing was the greatest performance sucker..

What? I have a voodoo 3 3000 and I have had no problems whatsoever. I am running at 1024x768. Runs like a dream. What other hardware do you have? Is your AGP set to 4x instead of 2? I wonder why you are having problems. I love that card. I tried the gladiac geforce2 and it wasn't nearly as good.

Tremble and despair, for I am power! All here are now judged, and are found wanting.
