edwin just translated some of the nether scroll so i thought hay finally he's going to be edwina(?) but he saved vs death and nothing happend so what went wrong? and if thats supposed to happen then does he translate more of it later?

You haven't done anything wrong Edwin was supposed to save versus death if you didn't it just injures you. Edwin will turn into Edwina later. And once he does it's a time based quest. Don't come moaning that you carn't turn him back. you've just got to be patient.
