I was thinking of roleplaying 2 of my favourite characters from the DragonLance series Caramon & Raistlin. I would like to hear any suggested traits/roles that each caracter should have. At the moment I'm thinking of making Caramon a barbarian with proficiencies in 2-handed sword, spear and bow with a high strength, charisma, constitution and low inteligience. I'm thinking of making Raistlin a pure Necromancer with proficiencies in Staff and Dagger, High inteligence, wisdom and constitution with low strength. Any thoughts or suggestions wellcome......

Good books!

Cameron sounds good, Barbarian is perfect, although I think proficiency in long sword over spear.

Yes, and make sure to give Raistlin very low Str & Con (like 5), 18 min Wis & Int. Might wanna make him evil, too. (I think, I read the books a while ago.) Not quite sure about Necro, though...

Other Dragonlance influence in the game...

I just recently noticed that there are Knights of Solamnia (like Sturm) in the Planar Sphere! After beating the planar sphere quest, you can spend like 9,000 gold to get someone to send them home.

Also, in the Darkest Day mod, the Halflings have been replaced with Kenders! No difference, just name... Darn.

Anyway, thought those were kinda cool...

i can´t remember the details, but i saw their official stats some time ago... they were surprisingly moderate (iirc raist had int 17, not very impressive wis while str and con weren´t far below average)

What a coincidence!
I am actually reading Dragons of Winter Night!

Lets see i would edit them gate keeper or what ever that editor is called.

Raistlin
Normal Mage
Neutral Evil

Strength-3
Dexterity-18
Constitution-3
Intelligence-25
Wisdowm-25
Charisma-3

Caramon
Fighter
Neutral Good

Strength-20
Dexterity-16
Constitution-18
Intelligence-3
Wisdom-3
Charisma-16

P.S.
Is it just me or does Fizbzan rock!?

Thanks guys for the great info,All I have to do now is to decide who the protagonist will be, can you romance Aerie, Vicona and Jaheira at the same time? Sounds like Caramons style. Maybe I might add Tas as well any Idea's for his stats?

You can only have multiple romances if you install a patch/hack for it. Otherwise, you can only have one. If you opt for this method, you can download the patch/hack here.

Definitely keep Raistlin's Constitution low, especially if you plan to play him after the point in his life where he takes and passes his Test. Remember, there were times when he could barely walk without Caramon's aid. I don't think that I'd make him a necromancer - I've always thought of Raistlin as more of a mage. And yes, depending on what point in Raistlin's life you plan to roleplay, he has an evil alignment (he began as a mage of the Red robes - neutral, and ended as a mage of the Black). This may affect your choice of protagonist. If you don't want to play through the game as an evil character, opt for Caramon instead.

Everything else sounds accurate. For Tas, I'd consider high Dexterity, low-moderate strength and constitution, moderate-high intelligence, low wisdom, and a moderate charisma score (kender do tend to be annoying, and aren't always received well).

remember that the dragonlance is a realistic power setting (not overcrowded with authors like forgotten realms who all try to outdo each other and the man who started the whole mess, ed cheesemonger greenwood with ever more powerful herous/villains).

personally, i have a few problems with raistlins stats though... i can only understand his average str and con if the marks from his test are dealt with in a different manner, and even then they seem too high (as he has always been weak and sickly).

Maniac 01-21-2002 10:08 AM

Hmmmm... I've always thought of Tanis as more of a Ranger...

Kaz 01-21-2002 10:34 AM

Some more questions - Raistlin is chaotic evil? He struck me more as neutral or even lawful evil. And Tas seems more chaotic good - when was the last time he obeyed a rule?
Just some things that seem strange

StarVid 01-21-2002 11:47 AM

1. Tanis was a ranger.

2. There's no way Caramoon had an Intelligence or Wisdom of higher than 9.

3. There is no way Raistin has a Charisma of 15. Well, maybe among the gully dwarves. And his strength and constitution should be around 8.

4. Raistin could not be a mage, he has casted many illusion spells in his day.

That's all I can think about for now. You could probably find the real stats in a campain settings kit for Dragonlance. The only problem is they don't make them anymore. They might re-release it being that they just released 3rd edition, but I doubt it. For obvious reasons, I think the only campaign settings that will be released is Forgotten Realms and Planescape. It's a shame too, because Ravenloft was awesome.
