SMALL-ISH SPOILERS AHEAD
- - - - - - Almost done with the Underdark quests. Mage shows up, offers me a Golden Rope which he says will protect me from a Lich. I make him give me the rope, go fight the Lich. Lich sends me back to the Mage & his Boss, Boss sends me back to the Lich. I kill the Lich, take the gems, get sent back to the Boss. I get mad at the Boss for lying to me & making me his patsy, then attack him. Boss & Mage go down quickly, and I get sent back to where I was.....and back to where I was, and back to where I was, over & over. (So much for trying to be inconspicuous.) My party keeps being teleported to the exact same spot, again and again. I was able to break the loop (keep hitting Pause, Save the game, hard-crash BG2 and Load again), but has this ever happened to any of you? P.S. I seem to have goofed a bit when I got the Eggs....everybody turned hostile. Killing every damned soul in Ust'Natha (except the dog) wasn't difficult, but the Matron Mother was going to hold a ceremony to summon a demon.....I'm just wondering if I missed out on any good items/EXP from that ceremony, or from the demon itself. |
Hmm that loop have never happened to me, but i have never fighted the mage and the boss. :D
So try that if you have a save before entering to the Lich. Well you shouldnt stel the egg talk to the Matron Mothers daughter, dont remember her name but you save her from the Mind Flayer Dungeon. She asks you to kill the guy you save her with. (my memory is far to short) When you meet him talk to him and spare his life and you will get his cloak for a proof of his death then go back to her and bla. bla. bla. Eventually she will ask you to exchange the Real Eggs with her fake ones. Agree and go to the temple, before you enter the temple the guy you was supposed to kill wants his revenge so he asks you to give fake eggs to the daughter to. Now go and switch the real eggs against the daughters eggs and then about 6 golems will be hostile to you. If you havenīt got any good weapon a tip is to buy Rod of Smiting of the merchant in the UstīNatha. Then kill those Golems and the Egg guards. Go back to the daughter and give her the fake eggs you got from the guy. You are asked to go to the temple so go there and the Matron Mother and the daughter is there and the ritual begins. They will be killes because the eggs are fake and the demon will speak to you and ask him to return were he came from. Now you must hurry out from UstīNatha or they will get angry on you. :D Then go to the nice little dragon and give her the eggs. ;) Hope it will help. :D |
You definetly missed out on a mighty nice adversary !!!
You can fight the demon, i believe (not sure) its a lesser demon-lord. You need atleast +5 or better weapons to hit him, and without Lower Magic Resistance, dont bother with spells. Fun guy to defeat |
Just a quick question, not necessarily on the same subject, but there is somthing about finding a mage in the underdark by casting some sort of spell. Is it worth doing or is he in that thing which has people trapped in?

Hmmm.....My path for the egg business was only slightly different: Phaere asked me to kill Soulaferin, and since I'm quite happy to dispatch Evil Drow, I complied. Then I took the fake eggs to the Temple and left my party near the entrance while my Assassin went to go perform the switch. But instead of just the Golems & the Egg Guards turning hostile when I opened the door, EVERYBODY went hostile, including the Matron Mother. Maybe if my party was out of sight of the main body of Drow there? Oh well, I'll try it next game. That Demon does NOT sound fun--The best weapon I've got is the Staff of Rynn, although I do have 2 half-Mages who both know Lower Resistance. But if the demon doesn't carry any important items (weapon components, etc), it's not that important.
Ed, there is indeed a trapped Mage there, but he's closer to the center of the map, a good deal south of that Imprisonment crystal. Help him and he'll give you a nice Rod. Not REALLY nice, but nice. |
You can give the demon the real eggs for a halberd +4, iirc, in case you were planning on killing the dragon anyway.

uhh.... ISnt it a Githyanki Encampment??/ Do deugar ever go there??? Cauz I know that afta doing the Mind Flayer qeust thats where the Githyanki turn up.... and btw
Ed & Eb.... isnt that similar???? |
Spoilers
. . . . . . . . . . . There is no githyaki camp in Underdark, they just pop out there to get the sword (parts) from you, after the Illithid dungeon... The Imprisoned mage is to north of druegar camp, just buy the scroll and use it and you will see where he pops out. Nothing too crucial there, can skip him, but it's just a neat little add-on XP. As for the eggs.. The whole town went hostile on you when you swapped the eggs because the guards were ALIVE when you did the swap. They will alert the whole town. Here's the scope: if you are not evil party member and do not planning on killing the Silver Dragon, then don't kill Soulafien when Phaere asks. I let him live, heck I even told to him who I really was. What's he going to do anyway with that, tell to someone? I'll level the town then hehe.. In any case, he was impressed and also thankful. Later, when Phaere asked me to swap the real eggs for fakes, Soulafien appeared and gave me his set of fake dragon eggs. So, I entered the temple, turned off Party AI, gulped the Potion of Invisibility with my main char (human berserker) and went to the place where they keep the eggs. Got close to these 2 guards, and then simply whacked them up. No one even noticed.. Went in, equipped my Staff of Rhynn, grabbed the real eggs and switched them with the Phaere's eggs, and then smacked the wazoos out of the golems. Got out of the room, another sip of Potion of Invisibility, and went to my party. Again, no one noticed a thing. Then went to Phaere, gave to her the Soulafien's fake eggs and after that, the action went on.. As for the loop, then I have not encountered it. I was a bit too benevolent in my speech and before I could have smacked them, the chief teleported me out of his room. Next time there will be no drow left alive in Ust Natha. So far only that mage and Jarlaxle have escaped the beating.. |
